Acknowledged TVR service and parts specialist David Gerald Sportscars will be taking a stand at Classic Motor Show from 11th to 13th November again this year. David Gerald Sportscars successfully merged with Classic World Racing at the end of 2010 and re-located to the CWR factory in Redditch and has continued to offer a first class service. Restoration and sales of classic TVR’s is also a major part of the business and so there will be a selection of part and fully restored cars for sale on the stand together with new disc brake and damper conversions for 3000M and Griffith/Chimaera.
CWR are pleased to announce that Nigel Bridger of Transtech Racing Transmissions (TRT) has re-located from Scotland and will be working from the CWR base in Redditch. TRT has successfully developed a range of competition gear clusters for Mitsubishi, Subaru, Honda, Vauxhall and Ford for both rally and race applications. Nigel has also successfully produced a replacement gear set for a Collotti competition gearbox from the 1960’s and so will be looking at other opportunities to offer a replacement gear kit for rare gearboxes.

CWR was again represented at the Goodwood Revival this year with the iconic BRM P261, but for the first time, it was not driven by its famous owner Richard Attwood! After Richard’s convincing win in the Glover Trophy last year, he decided not to race the car this year and instead offer the drive to CWR MD Mike Luck. Mike was thrilled to be given the opportunity to drive the car that still shares the Goodwood circuit lap record set by Sir Jackie Stewart when he was a works driver 1965. Although Mike has never raced at Goodwood he qualified a respectable 12th out of 24 cars, then despite a very wet track, got up to 6th in the race before having to concede a place to a hard charging James King on the last lap.
Richard Attwood took his CWR prepared BRM P261 to a convincing class win and 9th overall at this years Goodwood Festival of Speed. The achievement by the ex works BRM driver was all the more impressive as his car was the only one in the top ten not to run on slick tyres. The performance once again proved that Richard is still as quick as ever in the car that is superbly prepared by the team at CWR.
First wins for CWR carsCWR race cars won first overall and first in class at the first round of the Classic Car Club of Hong Kong series. The 5ltr TVR of Paul Winkelmann took pole position first time out and finished second in the first race but went on to win the second race in convincing style. Despite limited testing, the Ford Capri driven by Daniel Bilski proved to be competitive from the start. The 2.0ltr Pinto engine car is up against a wide variety of other saloons and sports cars, some of which run engines up to the maximum class capacity of 2.5ltr. Despite this, the nimble Capri won its class in both races.

A little piece of Dagenham will take its place on the grid at Sepang International Circuit this year thanks to the race shop at CWR. A 1988 Mk3 2.0ltr Capri has been built as a race car for hire in the Classic Car Club of Hong Kong series and is the latest addition to the CWR available to new and experienced drivers alike. There are a growing number of drivers, both ex-pat and local, who want to join the CCCHK organised series and so CWR can now offer potential drivers the opportunity to race backed up by years of successful trackside experience and support. The Capri has been built as a competitive car for Class B within the successful series run for pre 89 GT sportscars and saloons and CWR believes the car will attract new customers for next year.
CWR threw its doors open to customers and sportscar enthusiasts alike in March for an open day. The day was blessed with good weather and there were delicious hot pork buns and drinks on tap.
There were a wide selection of race cars on show currently prepared and being built by the CWR race shop together with the newly established facilities on offer from the David Gerald service and spares team. There was a very healthy contingent from the TWR Car Club headed by Midlands organiser Steve Guest.
Visitors were invited to take part in an exclusive test day organised by Alcon Brakes to be held at Bruntingthorpe Testing Ground. STOP PRESS! Congratulations to Paul Bennett and Dave Gillham who are the lucky winners of the Alcon track day.

We are pleased to announce that the company has successfully moved to much larger premises.
The move was a fairly smooth affair, helped by the fact that the new site is only 50 yards from the old one so the phone number and fax number remains the same. The new unit is 8,000 sq ft and has a suite of offices along the front that will enable us to create a showroom for our growing range of motorsport and fast road parts.
Feel free to call and arrange a visit to see our facility where we can discuss your preparation requirements for 2011.

CWR Director Mike Luck had a successful run in a March 79B belonging to a new customer at the Derek Bell Trophy at the Gold cup over the August Bank holiday. The March belongs to business man and racer Garry Diver who has previously raced the car in the USA. Although Garry has raced extensively in the USA, his SCCA licence is not recognised in the UK so he has to obtain signatures on his MSA licence before taking a place on the DBT grid in 2011.

Success at the Goodwood revival has finally come to Classic World Racing! After 3 years of trying, the BRM P261 of Richard Attwood has realised its potential and taken a superb win in the 2010 Glover Trophy. Qualifying seemed to be going ok until the intervention of a damper related problem terminated the session leaving Richard a lowly 16th on the grid. We knew Richard would give it his all, but couldn’t see him getting on the podium against such stiff competition as Andy Middlehurst in a Lotus 25(2nd) and Frank Sytner in a Lotus 24(Pole). However, once the flag dropped, Richard set about climbing his way up the field until he took the lead with 2 laps to go. It was a truly memorable performance and we look forward to more successful outings in 2011.

We are pleased to announce that respected TVR dealer David Gerald TVR Sportscars will be joining forces with Classic World Racing. The merger is due for completion by December 1st and will see Doug Ellwood and the DG workshop staff relocate to CWR’s new workshop facility in Redditch.
CWR director Mike Luck is delighted with the development and said “the combined resources and skills of the 2 companies will ensure growth for the future”. The sales and marketing expertise that Doug will bring will also help towards the development of the road going Titan project which is still under development. Doug and Mike will be present on the CWR/DG TVR stand 3T21 at the Classic Car Show at the NEC between 12th to 14th November where details of the Titan and other new business plans will be available.
We are pleased to announce that as of Tuesday 1st June Classic World Racing will be operating from larger premises.
The new location is only a matter of yards from the present unit but represents a major opportunity to develop the workshop and retail activities of the business. MD Mike Luck said “ we will ultimately have a show room facility along with double the workshop space, the new facility will greatly improve our capacity and presentation” The new 7000sq ft unit also comes with a large secure yard, ideal for safe storage of trailers, caravans or motor homes.
The new address is:

We are pleased to announce that CWR will be creating a modern take on the LWB, wide body TVR Tuscan V8. Originally launched in 1968, the model followed in the footsteps of the famous Griffith 400. Our road legal car will recreate the iconic shape of the 60’s muscle car and will offer stunning performance within a simple, functional style. Amongst the CWR team is ex TVR competition manager Chris Schirle who worked under the late Peter Wheeler and was instrumental in designing the ground breaking 450 SEAC wedge car. Since leaving TVR, Chris has built many successful Classic TVR’s for FiA Historic racing and continues to apply his vast experience to classic competition cars in the CWR stable. There is still a lot of interest in older TVR’s and we believe there is an opportunity to offer a competitively priced, high performance package that will reflect the heritage and style of the original car.
We are keen to stress that CWR is not about to build cars that are passed off as originals. We fully understand the implication of what we are doing and will respect and preserve the divide between our version and original examples. The car will be called the Titan and will feature a Chevrolet LS3 V8 engine producing 480bhp, a 5 speed gearbox linked up with an LSD. While the body, chassis and suspension have been finalised, there is a huge amount of work yet to be done to ensure the car conforms to the new IVA standard. We are aiming for a functional, minimalist style that will not come up wanting when subjected to hard track day use.

We had an excellent turnout for the “Evening with Richard Attwood” from The Independent Porsche Enthusiasts Club (TIPEC) in October. Organised in conjunction with central region organizer Paul Bird, over 80 enthusiasts came along to CWR to hear and meet the ever approachable Richard Attwood Le Mans winner in 1970 and Grand Prix driver for BRM and Reg Parnell Racing)….interviewed by respected sports commentator Andrew Wilkins.
Richard was accompanied by his ex Jackie Stewart BRM P261 (which is prepared and run by CWR) and a Porsche 917, very similar to the one he won the Le Mans 24hr race in 1970 (kindly loaned by David Piper). The audience were not only treated to the rare sight of Richard, BRM P261 and Porsche 917 in the same room but were further treated to a close inspection of the new Porsche Panamera that Richard used to come to the event in.
CWR also exhibited its range of Porsche damper systems, fuel cells, race seats and race suits.
Comments from the TIPEC forum included:
"Brilliant evening. This was the Porsche equivalent of an evening with one of the surviving Beatles”.
"Well done guys, a fabulous evening with one of the greats".
"A truly enjoyable evening, with a true gentleman. Hung on his every word. And the 917 was awesome".
MD Mike Luck commented "This has been a very successful event and my hope is that we can extend an invitation to other clubs in the future”.
Congratulations to Simon Westbrook who has achieved a back to back Championship win in the 2009 HKCCC series based at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia.
Simon’s TVR 5000S is prepared and run by CWR and again cruised to Championship honours with a race to spare. The car has now changed hands and will be driven by fellow HKCCC competitor Mike Ricks. CWR will be on hand in 2010 to help Mike follow in Simon’s footsteps!

Experienced racer Peter Lloyd and CWR Managing Director Mike Luck took part in the Britcar 500, 6 hour endurance race at Silverstone in September in the CWR E Type Jaguar. The E Type was a popular entry in an event that is normally associated with more modern race cars. The CWR team achieved a very respectable performance and completed fuel stops and driver changes without incident. Peter Lloyd commented “I have thoroughly enjoy the experience with the Mike and the team and is something I would love to do again”

CWR client Chris Conoley of Mass Race Engines won his class (10th overall) at the Spa 6 hour race using RC6E endurance brake pads from Carbone Lorraine supplied by CWR. Chris was driving a Marcos 1800 with Andy Tice. The CL brake pads ran under hard race conditions for 6 hours without needing to be changed, something that certainly contributed to their final race result.
